Charlie* speaks about the journey of adoption with Faith in Families and the support received for their new family
I am a trans non binary gay person who is married to a wonderful woman. When we decided to adopt we researched local agencies and settled on Faith in Families. We chose them because they were the ones who seemed most passionate about adoption and providing lifelong support for adopters and adoptees alike.
The training we received was amazing, we still say to this day that we could not have been more prepared for what we were about to take on. Training never stops with the approval process either, as they offer refreshers as well as new training sessions through the year, every year.
Our children came home and things weren’t easy but Faith in Families were there for us as soon as we needed them. Not once have they let us down, even when we’ve had questions out of hours.
Even as things got easier and we all got used to being a family of four, Faith in Families are still there to support us. We love the REACH groups where our children go to spend time with other children who have been adopted and the regular parties that the agency hold give us all a chance to catch up with other adoptive families.
Becoming parents has changed our lives more so than we ever thought possible, and we could not have made it this far without the help and support of Faith in Families.
